WE VALUE DIFFERENCE

Different perspectives, unique ways of thinking — our Associates are as varied as our products. This is true no matter what your role is or where you are in the organization. And we are working to increase diversity in all our management teams. We’re particularly focused on making sure women are equally represented in management positions.

We recruit and reward Associates based on capability and performance — regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, lifestyle, age, educational background, national origin, religion or physical ability. Each Mars location, everywhere, is free to respond to local needs to create a culturally sensitive workplace for everyone. In doing so, we want every Mars Associate to feel our commitment to showing respect for all and encouraging open collaboration and communication.

PRINCIPLES IN ACTION 2016 SPOTLIGHT: FEMALE MANAGERS TARGET

We’re excited to say that women made up 41 percent of Mars’ management. That’s a one percent increase from 2015. But we’re not yet satisfied – our goal is gender equality and we’re working hard to provide more opportunities for women at Mars.

DEVELOPING LOCAL TALENT

Our success relies on hiring great local people and giving our leaders the freedom to make the best decisions for local business performance, Associates and the communities we work in. This approach works because we are united by The Five Principles, no matter where we are. It also offers our local leaders a high level of accountability.

We have an eye for talent. Whether it’s in Asia, Africa or the USA, we aim to develop both those already in leadership positions and those with potential for the future. Our Asia Leadership Forum, for example, is an exciting development program that brings together the leadership teams of all of our businesses in Asia. Our Accelerated Leadership Program is an intensive and challenging program for high-potential managers, and we run the program to make sure we’re growing local talent.


Mars is actively working to increase the proportion of women in management roles.
